Room 409. Located on the fourth and fifth floors of the former Kaltenecker building, the Kaltenecker Suite is considered to be the most haunted hotel room out of any other in the state of West Virginia.  John Kaltenecker erected this building in 1889, the same time that the Blennerhassett Hotel was being built. The Architecture is the same as on the Blennerhassett Hotel and was designed by AC Nash of Cincinnati Ohio.  This building was incorporated into the Blennerhassett Hotel during the time of the 1985/86 hotel renovation. 

The first floor of this building was a Saloon in 1889, and then became the Royal restaurant during the 1930’s and 40’s and was ran by the Kaltenecker family while they lived in the fourth and fifth floor sections of this building at the time.

This suite can be turned into an even larger suite when Room 407 next door is opened up into it. This is a family suite now and when both rooms are opened up it can sleep 10 comfortably. This room has Nantucket style beds as well as murphy style beds, which allows for a much more larger sleeping setup. 

When you first enter the room, you come into the hallway which leads into the spacious sitting room. There is a small bathroom just off the living room. This room comes with a complimentary refrigerator as well.  There are hard wood floors on the first floor of this suite.  The grand staircase leads you up to the master bedroom which has an amazing view all the way down towards Blennerhassett Island. The lavishly done master bathroom has a lovely, tiled shower, and a state-of-the-art blue tooth fan. 

The man in the Bowler hat has been seen by many different guests throughout the years in the upstairs bedroom. The sound of the furniture moving on the first floor, and the sound of people talking and having a party, can be heard as well at times in the early hours of the morning. Do not be too scared though, this mischievous ghost that dwells in the Kaltenecker suite seems to do no harm. 

This suite has been occupied throughout the years by the following award-winning actresses, Claire Danes and Nicholle Tom (Circa 2007).
